Striker Cloning Gel is a high performance rooting compound for propagation. It is a tenacious gel which will remain in contact around the stem, sealing the cut tissue and supplying the hormones needed to promote root cell development and protecting the delicate new root tissue.

The best way to have a steady supply of cuttings is to grow a donor or ‘mother’ plant that is kept in a vegetative state. You want your donor plant to be as healthy as possible with many nodes from which to cut clones to minimize stress as you shear off pieces of the plant. At the time of clone taking the donor plant should be fully turgid (well watered) as dehydration is the most pressing problem a clone faces. Once you are ready to start, the process can be broken down into three easy steps:

1. Make an initial cut on a side branch about 6 inches long. Place this cutting underwater and then make a second cut about 2-3 inches in from the end of the cutting. This prevents an embolism, or air bubble, from entering the tissue inside the cutting. As in people, embolisms can do serious damage or even kill a clone.

2. Quickly dip the clone into rooting gel and place into the rooting medium of your choice.  Rooting gels are more efficient to use than powders because they stick to the end of the clone instead of rinsing off when watered and help prevent embolisms by ‘capping’ the wound. Note: Be sure not to dip clones directly into your bottle of gel; you can easily contaminate your entire supply with pathogenic microbes. Instead, pour an ample amount of gel out onto wax paper or the like.

3. Maintain a high level of humidity around the clones to minimize moisture loss through transpiration. Also, if there are large leaves on the cutting, cut these in half to decrease transpiration.

Plant Bends

Plant Bends enable you to train leaves or stems to ensure a plant receives as much light as possible. They offer flexible short and side truss support for truss stems and can be attached at an early stage of growth. Plant Bends are bendable, so the stem does not have to be forced through the support and they bend with the truss as the stem grows.

This little device allows you to gently bend the branches of your plants so they can receive more light than if they grew naturally. As the plant grows, they are clipped to the stems which change their growing direction. By clipping on more, you can sculpt the shape of your plant to provide maximum light penetration and increase flower development. After a week or so they can be removed and the bend will remain, they can then be used elsewhere on the plant.

Plant Bends are best for use as early as possible in the plants life when the branches are smaller and more pliable. As a plant matures, its branches and stems stiffen and can become more woody. These are far harder to train and can easily snap if they bend too far. With a bit of forward planning, these Plant Bends can be put to great use. However, if your plants have become too big for them, you may need to come up with another plan!

NUTRIFEED is a specially formulated, balanced water soluble nutrient promoting healthy growth, root formation and flower and fruit development for a wide range of vegetables and ornamental plants grown in hydroponics/soil-less culture, as well as soil or other media.

USES AND BENEFITS

NUTRIFEED contains all the essential macro- and micro-elements for healthy plant growth and is adapted to widely varying soil conditions. It :–

– is versatile and easy to apply in all hydroponic techniques;

– is water soluble and is readily absorbed by the plant;

– will boost seedling growth; and

– will reduce seedling mortality.

METHODS OF APPLICATION  OF NUTRIFEED: May be used as hydroponic nutrient, applied as a foliar feed, used as a soil-drench, and even as a dry feed.

Hydroponics

– Dissolve in water at a rate of 1:500 (1kg/500l or approximately 10g per 5 litres.

– Stir well.

– Preferably leave overnight. Ignore slight sediment.

– Use half strength for recently germinated seedlings.

Plants in Soil – General Solution

– Dissolve in water at a rate of 1:1000 (1kg/1000l or 5 to 10g per 1 litre.

– Apply evenly over the soil once a week.

Dry Feed/Sprinkle-on Method

– Soak soil well before treatment.

– Sprinkle powder lightly around each plant and apply water
