Hydor Wall or Inline Exhaust Fans – a QUALITY brand for residential, commercial  and industrial exhaust or supply air application. Directly connects to standard diameter circular ducting.

The handy EF fan range is ideal for smaller growing spaces and the square face plate can be removed from the fan, leaving only the cylindrical fan body for installation into flexible ducting, or a grow tent’s ducting sleeve (Using ether a ducting clamp, or even cable ties). The 2 shuttering flaps on the rear end of the fan can also be removed, to further trim down the unit for installation in side of ducting.

How to work out the size and type of fan required:
In order to provide adequate ventilation for a given application, it is essential the
correct size, type and number of units are selected. Selection of the correct fan depends on two
principal factors: the performance and application.
Step 1
Determine which mounting arrangements meet your requirements
Step 2
Calculate the VOLUME of the room in cubic metres (m3) by multiplying the lenght x width x height.
Step 3
How many air changes (AC/H) are required.Work out how fast one complete ‘air change’ needs to be carried out under warm conditions (i.e the maximum you will ever need the fan to operate).If excess heat in a certain growing environment is a common problem, or there is a large volume of plants growing in a very restricted space you will need more air flow per hour than for a larger growing area which doesn’t suffer from too much heat build up with smaller plants.Growers commonly underestimate just how much ‘air exchange’ is required to remove excess heat and humidity, bring in fresh CO2 and generally create fresh air movement over all of the plant surfaces. As a comparison to greenhouse crops growing in full sunlight – one air change per minute or 60 air changes an hour are often aimed for with large, mature crops growing under warm, humid conditions. However, in a grow room situation, one complete air change obtained in 4-5 minutes is acceptable. Obviously this needs to be more frequent (one complete air change in 2-3 minutes) where lighting is creating a lot of extra heat to be removed or when a CO2 generator is being used.

The RAM Air-Pro II Fan Controller is an intelligent indoor climate controller designed to control two inline/exhaust fans thermostatically, monitoring and keeping the desired room temperature and air pressure.

NB !!: Fan switches must be on HIGH at all times when plugged in to this controller!

All you have to do is plug in your fans, set the required air temperature and fan speed/balance and the AIR-PRO will do the rest, maintaining a continuous room temperature in your room and giving you full control over negative pressure.

The RAM Air-Pro II features a remote thermostat sensor and temperature setting, as well as twin fan speed control.

This intelligent fan speed controller learns your optimum speed for the temperature/pressure that you desire. The unique software will automatically calculate the running speed for your fans and learn from this to modulate them (ramp down) to a single running speed that maintains the required temperature that you have set. A remote probe is fitted, accurate to within +/- 1 degree, that can be placed in the key temperature sensitive area.

The RAM Air-Pro II looks for a stable fan speed to maintain the desired temperature. This means that your fans will be running below the maximum operating speed. They will be operating at maximum efficiency in reference to power vs. performance, extending fan motor life, whilst only using the minimum electricity required.

TIP: For best results, use the Air-Pro Fan Speed Controller with RAM Inline Fans of 100mm to 315mm in diameter, however it can be used with other brands to the equivalent size. DO NOT exceed maximum load of 7 Amps per socket

RAM Inline Exhaust Fans are designed for use with in-line ventilation ducting and they can also be clamped or cable-tied in to a grow tent’s ducting sleeves. These fans are very handy for smaller set-ups, where high capacity ducting fans are not required and they can also be placed anywhere a little bit of air-circulation or extraction would be welcome. These fans can also be used to create some airflow / ventilation in a drying area.

Having the right ventilation set-up is vitally important to controlling temperature and humidity. Problems like disease, poor growth, yields and pest control issues are associated with a lack in control of these two factors. Ensuring there is a good supply of fresh air in indoor growing areas can be the difference between success and failure and therefore a need for the element of control.

When growing in an enclosed space, we advise using both an extractor fan and an intake fan. The extractor will remove the moist, warm air (high humidity) along with other respiratory by-products and helps to replenish carbon dioxide. The intake fan should be placed at the opposite end of the growing environment to help control humidity and temperature and introduce carbon dioxide into the area.

By making sure that you have the right carbon filter, fan and ducting combination, you can save time, money and effort in the long-run. Measuring up your room correctly is highly important to ensure that the correct ventilation system is chosen and its subsequent success of maintaining an efficient growing area.

The RAM Inline Duct Fan is supplied with a mounting bracket and fitted with an IEC Socket. Hydroponic.co.za also adds a kettle plug electrical cord to the item for your convenience.

What is Fast-Flow?

Fast-Flow is an anti-turbulence fin. This patented technology slows down the air coming into the fan resulting in a smoother and more direct flow of air into the ducting.

Grow tent or grow room ventilation is essential for healthy, fast growing plants and filtration is also key – keeping incoming (and/or circulating air) air as clean as possible.

Replacing the air in your grow space at least every 5 minutes during the room’s daytime cycle if using an “open” system, but definitely quicker if your environment is struggling to combat heat or humidity. ( Up to once every 2 minutes if necessary )

It is also important to circulate the air inside your grow area. This will keep strengthen plants, help with plant respiration and reduce mold risk.

When it comes to indoor growing, a well controlled environment is critical. Good ventilation forms a big part of this.
