RAM Carbon Air Filter 250/600

RAM Carbon Air Filter 250/600

RAM Carbon Air Filter 250/600: ( 250mm Diameter flange / 600mm length ), Capacity: 1080 m3/hr.

Using Virgin Australian RC412 Carbon, which is widely considered to be the superior carbon for air filtration, the RAM Pro Active professional range of filters is designed with the grower in mind. This means they are guaranteed to do the job, easy-to-use, value for money and flexible to suit your needs in a variety of sizes.

The RAM Pro Active Carbon Filter features a carbon pore size of 0.02 micron, which is very high in carbon specification. It means that the carbon is far more absorbent to volatile organic smells and is more attractive to them making the odour element stick to them like glue and become absorbed.

The carbon filling process used in the manufacture of these filters includes inline drying and dehumidifying to make sure the carbon is in peak condition before the filter is compacted. We also use special expansion foam on the neck making sure that the compaction rate of the carbon remains high at all times. Lower quality filters can have poor compaction, meaning volatile smells can escape before contact with the carbon filter.

Use the RAM Carbon Air Filter 250/600 with suitable inline extraction fans, like the Hydor HIT 250mm Metal Inline Fan

Activated Carbon Pellets

Activated Carbon Pellets

Activated Carbon Pellets are great for extracting organic compounds from the air.

Carbon filters incorporating activated carbon pellets are the ideal filtration system solution for hydroponic gardens.  Apart from filtering air, carbon filters also trap odour molecules, mainly produced by plants such as chilli peppers, orchids, herbs & spices and thus serve a dual purpose of improving air circulation and keeping the cultivating area odour free.

After 12 to 18 months of use, the filters begin to lose their effectiveness and need to be replaced.

( pellets are 4 mm in diameter, 3 to 7 mm in length on average )

Carbon is activated by burning it in an oxygen-depleting atmosphere. Similar to how wood smoulders in a stove when only a small amount of oxygen is present. In a kiln it is similar, but there is much less oxygen and the temperatures are much higher. When the carbon is exposed to these high temperatures in the presence of little oxygen and with excess steam, microscopic pores open up within the carbon. This creates a greater surface area and charges the carbon with positive electrons which attracts the negatively charged ions in the organic compound (i.e. smells and gases).

ALL activated carbon is rendered ineffective in an environment with humidity levels over 85%. Keep humidity levels below 80% or the odour absorbing reaction will be unable to take place inside the carbon.

Clamps

Clamps
Clamps are a  simple solution for connecting ducting to Inline Fans, Carbon Filter, Ducting Splitters or Air Cooled Reflectors. Fitted with a worm screw, tighten with a screw driver in a few seconds.  Clamps provide a secure connection, ensuring your extraction system remains securely connected.
The Clamps are made from strong, Stainless Steel  They are super easy to install and will last you for many grows to come. To install a clamp, you simple screw it open wide enough to fit over the end of your ducting, slip your ducting over the Fan/Reflector/Carbon Filter’s flange and screw it closed to ensure your ducting is fastened on tightly.

Available in a few different sizes to suit all ducting sizes. They are an efficient, cost effective method of joining ventilation equipment.

Clamp Sizes:

14-32mm (for larger water pumps)
95-121mm
133-159mm

197-222mm
241-267mm
286-311mm

PLEASE NOTE: 14-32mm Clamps are Stainless Steel, for use under water.

315mm clamping info

Clamps are an adjustable steel band that the user tightens with a screw. Most people generally know this kind of fitting as a Jubilee Clip which is often in the plumbers tool box. The premise is the same just on a bigger scale to suit ducting, not water pipes. The worm gear that adjusts the tightness allows a secure connection between ducting and fan or filter.

Many growers use ducting clamps in combination with Aluminium tape. This makes an even stronger join with advantages of both. The tape has a bigger surface area for joining and can go round and round as many times as you want. It can degrade after a while though so the Ducting Clamp will increase holding power of the join.

RAM Wall Mounted Fan

RAM Wall Mounted Fan

RAM Wall Mounted Fan:

Ideal as a grow room wall fan, this 40w oscillating fan features a 400mm blade and three speed settings. It has pull cords for ease of use rather than remote control operation so if for any unforeseeable reason the power supply gets interrupted the fan will automatically restart rather than waiting for a remote start.

A wall fan in a grow room is ideal for circulating the area to avoid any hotspots occurring from lighting equipment, as well as helping with vapor removal from leaf surfaces. A breeze over the plants will also help create stronger thicker stems.

Technical Specifications:
Size: Approx. 400mm (16”) – the actual blade diameter is around 340mm, and the mesh cover diameter is around 430mm
Power: 40w
Voltage: 220-240v/50Hz
Speed: 3 speed settings
Plug and cord: 2-Pin, approx. 170cm long

  • The fan must be mounted on a solid flat wall, using the fixtures provided and in the correct orientation ( upright ). Operating the fan in any incorrect position will cause the oscillation mechanism to fail and will not be covered under warranty.
  • The fan head’s tilt (blowing upwards or downwards) is manually set by tightening the thumb screw on the mount.
  • The RAM Wall Mounted Fan has two cord pull-strings of approx. 28cm long: One for turning oscillation on or off, and the other to cycle between off, speed 1, speed 2 or speed 3.

Having the right ventilation set-up is vitally important to controlling temperature and humidity. Problems like disease, poor growth, yields and pest control issues are associated with a lack in control of these two factors. Ensuring there is a good supply of fresh air in indoor growing areas can be the difference between success and failure and therefore a need for the element of control.

When growing in an enclosed space, we advise using both an extractor fan and an intake fan. The extractor will remove the moist, warm air (high humidity) along with other respiratory by-products and helps to replenish carbon dioxide. The intake fan should be placed at the opposite end of the growing environment to help control humidity and temperature and introduce carbon dioxide into the area.

By making sure that you have the right carbon filter, fan and ducting combination, you can save time, money and effort in the long-run. Measuring up your room correctly is highly important to ensure that the correct ventilation system is chosen and its subsequent success of maintaining an efficient growing area.
