Generally, manufacturers name and rate the unit based on the amount of water it can remove from air in 24 hours, but based on air with a temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius and with an RH of 80%. These types of conditions may be a reality in really tropical summers in places like China and Hong Kong, but is far from what the conditions inside your average grow area are like. There are even some manufacturers that rate their units’ performance based on 32 degree Celsius air with 95% RH! These ratings are also based on air where the RH remains the same – as a dehumidifier cannot magically continue to remove water from air with little to no water in it.

As a general rule of thumb, halve the rating of any dehumidifier to get an idea of how much water it will remove from a “normal” grow room environment in 24 hours.

Dehumidifiers are best suited for closed-loop growing set-ups, or spaces with little ventilation – no number of dehumidifiers will dry out a space where potentially wet air is constantly being ventilated into the space from outside.

CAN-Lite 425 PL Carbon Filter

CAN-Lite 425 PL Carbon Filter

The CAN-Lite 425 PL Carbon Filter weighs in at only 2.2 kg, making it easy to hang from rope ratchets. With a length of 60 cm, this little filter can be used in small to medium grow spaces. Filled to the brim with 1.6 kg of activated carbon using vibration plates during manufacture, your air will be filtered to perfection. The removable pre-filter can be hand-rinsed when necessary and the filter is also refillable.

The filter is able to purify up to 425 m3/hr. ( It can be matched up with a fan with a maximum capacity of 467 m3/hr, as there is generally an air-flow loss of around 20% when a filter is added into the extraction setup. )

Calculate your needs and read more here.

PLEASE NOTE: The CAN-Lite 425 PL Carbon Filter can be fitted with either a 100mm OR  a 125mm Flange ( SOLD SEPARATELY! ) … don’t forget to add a flange to your cart with your purchase !

Cooltube Reflector

Cooltube Reflector

The Cooltube Reflector is an air-tight, fully sealed clear glass tube with a lamp mounting bracket in its center on the one end. Cooltube Reflectors are perfect for removing the excess heat generated by HPS or Metal Halide grow lights.

New Cooltube Wing Design

PLEASE NOTE: NEW Cooltubes now have detachable side wings instead of being permanently attached on hinges that flip the wings up or down. (See photos on the left)

Cooltubes were one of the first air cooled reflectors to become available and all these years later they are still a firm favorite with many growers. They are effectively an inline glass tube that allows you to extract air through the reflector and over your lamp, taking the heat away before it can raise the temperature of your grow room. (Instructional video here)

Cooltubes can be mounted in series along the same length of flexible aluminium ducting.

The Cooltubes have a rounded internal reflector (inside the glass tube), as well as foldable outside reflector wings, for a slightly tighter light spread. They have a mounting hook on each side, to suspend from rope ratchets, come with a 4.5 m long male kettle plug power cord and can be used with up to 1000 Watt bulbs. The hood is fitted with a ceramic E40 light fitting.

Length of 6″ tube (150 mm diameter), end to end: 62 cm

Width of 6″ cooltube when reflector wings are folded out (tip to tip): 28 cm

Length of 8″ tube (200 mm diameter), end to end: 72 cm

Width of 8″ cooltube when reflector wings are folded out (tip to tip): 35 cm

Digital Humidity Controller

Digital Humidity Controller

Our Digital Humidity Controller makes managing relative humidity (RH) in your growing and drying spaces so much easier.

The unit is versatile and can be used in a number of ways depending on which operating mode you select and how you wire up the unit.

There are 2 simple modes of operation, where the unit will turn equipment on when the humidity drops below a set % ( Humidification mode ) OR the unit will turn equipment on when the humidity rises above a certain % (Dehumidification mode).

For more advanced users, two sets of equipment could be operated with the digital humidity controller. Here, the default circuit ( called Normally ON / Normally CLOSED ) will be used to constantly power equipment, UNTIL such time as the switching conditions are met.

  • Dry Weather Example: A humidifier will continuously operate UNTIL the RH goes above a certain %, at which point the controller will “flip over” the normally active circuit, powering down the humidifier and turning on the alternate circuit ( connected to, for example an extraction fan ) which will operate until the RH drops to below the set %.
  • Wet Weather Example: A dehumidifier will continuously operate UNTIL the RH drops below a certain %, at which point the controller will “flip over” the normally active circuit, powering down the dehumidifier and turning on the alternate circuit ( connected to, for example a misting unit ) which will then operate until the RH increases to above the set %.

The unit can be programmed in various other ways, which include the % drop or increase before circuit is switched over, ON time delays ( To prevent damage to equipment ) and it also has an emergency mode feature, where equipment will be turned on for preset amounts of time in case of RH probe errors.

The unit runs off 220V AC, which means no additional AC Adaptors / Drivers are needed to power up the unit itself.

Please note that the controlled equipment will still require their own power sources ( the unit does not provide power to the equipment, it only engages or disengages their circuits ) PLEASE USE RESPONSIBLY – Get a professional to help you if you feel unsure about your wiring.

Unit includes RH probe only, no additional electrical wires or plugs are included.
