🧰 Setting Up Your System

  • Clean water in reservoir (ideal pH 6.0–6.5)
  • Nutrients added according to label — verify EC
  • Air pump + airstone running (oxygen = happy roots)
  • Seedlings secure in media (rockwool, coco, pebbles)
  • Lights on 14–18 hours/day (use a timer)
  • Record pH, EC, and temperature daily

⚡ Tip: In SA summers, keep the reservoir shaded — warm water suffocates roots faster than load-shedding kills Wi-Fi.

⏱️ Daily & Weekly Maintenance

  • Check pH and EC
  • Top up water (add nutrients weekly)
  • Clean filters and remove debris
  • Inspect for pests (whiteflies & aphids love hydro greens)
  • Replace full nutrient solution every 1–2 weeks

đź©ş Troubleshooting & Common Issues

  • Yellow leaves? High pH or nitrogen deficiency — flush & reset nutrients.
  • Brown roots? Low oxygen or warm water — increase aeration & cool the res.
  • Wilting? Pump off, clogged drippers, or heat stress (also root rot risk).
  • Algae? Light leak — cover reservoir with opaque material.
  • No growth? Low EC (underfeeding) or weak / distant lighting.
