DFert Vermicompost is a soil conditioner / organic fertilizer, made up of a mixture of decomposed organic matter (e.g. vegetable, food waste, “worm chow”), bedding materials (e.g. leaves, sawdust, mulch), and vermicast (worm excrement / castings).
Vermicompost contains water soluble plant nutrients, and can be mixed directly into soils or substrates or can be used to make worm teas. The nutrients in vermicompost come in a form that is relatively easy for plants to absorb, which makes it a popular choice for growers.
Vermicompost also contains beneficial bacteria – a crucial element when it comes to feeding your crops with organic nutrients. These bacteria are needed to break down these nutrients into an inorganic form that plants can take up.
Vermicompost has been shown to be richer in many nutrients than compost produced by other composting methods, but levels of Magnesium and pH needed adjustment. Nutrient content will of course vary between sources, based on what the worm colonies are fed.
DFert Vermicompost comes in a 12.2kg bag ( when bagged ) and should have a volume of around 25lt.
